Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey new poster out, fans call it ‘blockbuster’

Anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s next epic is peaking as its July 17, 2026, release date approaches. Adding to the buzz, the makers have now unveiled a breathtaking new poster for The Odyssey, just in time for the holiday season.

The image, shared by the film's official Instagram handle, showcases a warrior clad in dark armour, set against a misty blue backdrop, hinting at the grand adventure that awaits. This marks Nolan's first feature since Oppenheimer and his inaugural film shot entirely using IMAX cameras.

To build anticipation, a six-minute prologue is currently being screened exclusively in IMAX theatres as a preview ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash (released December 19), giving audiences a sneak peek into Nolan's vision and technical execution.

Sharing the new artwork on Instagram, the official handle of The Odyssey wrote, "A film by Christopher Nolan shot entirely with IMAX film cameras. Experience The Odyssey prologue in IMAX before Avatar: Fire and Ash."

After the poster made its way online, social media users were quick to react to it, with many calling the poster 'insane' and 'beautiful.'" "The prologue was very intense. Very excited to see what this movie has to offer," a user wrote. Another said, "just seen the 6 minute prologue and that was just beautiful this honestly might be nolan’s best movie!!!"

The Odyssey boasts an ensemble cast, including Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, and Charlize Theron. This impressive lineup promises an unforgettable cinematic experience, adapting Homer's ancient Greek epic, which follows King Odysseus's perilous journey home after the Trojan War.

"The script is the best script I've ever read," Holland told AFP earlier this year.
