Prabhas'
much-awaited horror-comedy The RajaSaab released in theatres in India and abroad on January 9, attracting audiences over the Sankranti holiday season.
Based on live estimates on Sacnilk, preliminary data from box office trackers indicate that The RajaSaab grossed around ₹8.26 crore net in India till noon on its debut day across languages.
Albeit a modest opening, the final estimates for first day box office performance will be confirmed by 10pm.
According to reports earlier in the week, the movie made between ₹4.6 and ₹8.6 crore in advance reservations for its first day in India, including statistics on obstructed seats. The highest pre-sale came from Andhra Pradesh.
Morning shows alone pushed the film past the ₹6 crore mark, enough to dethrone Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar from the top of the domestic box office after a 35-day run.

Despite its slow start when compared to big Pan-India releases in recent years, The RajaSaab began its theatrical voyage with strong occupancy in Telugu heartlands and noticeable presence in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada markets.
The horror-comedy film is directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory. With music by Thaman S, the movie brings together romance, supernatural fun, and royal-family turmoil that might just be perfect for a festival crowd seeking laughter and a little bravado on the big screen.
The cast also includes Sanjay Dutt and Malavika Mohanan, among others.
