What is the story about?
By now, every Money Heist fan knows that the hit Spanish crime drama is soon to be back on the screens for a new season. A few days back, Netflix released a short teaser confirming that the “world of Money Heist" is far from over. Days after the announcement, the streaming giant has revealed another key detail about the upcoming project.
On Thursday, May 14, Netflix India shared a short teaser on their Instagram account with the caption, “BELLA CIAO FOREVER. The world of ‘Money Heist’ expands.” It began with a dramatic rendition of the song Bella Ciao, and in the scene, several people entered, dressed in the show’s iconic red jumpsuits and Salvador Dali masks. They walked through a small alley before standing in a uniform formation. Amid them stood Money Heist’s iconic character, Professor, in a tailored black suit and the same mask.
As the clip progressed, anticipation around the character grew, and finally, he unveiled the mask to reveal his face. It was none other than actor Alvaro Morte, who has been portraying Professor since the show's first season.
Reacting to the reveal, one fan said, “This show so goated that even an announcement feels like a festival. This is Masterpiece.” Another excited fan commented, “Can't wait.” “Finally, the professor is back,” mentioned an individual.
Netflix has yet to confirm any details on the upcoming project. They have not officially confirmed whether Money Heist will return with a brand-new season, a spin-off centred on a familiar character, or an extension of existing stories within the franchise.
The original Money Heist, known as La casa de papel in Spanish, ended with part 5 in 2021, but the franchise has continued to grow through spin-offs and new stories. A teaser released by Netflix a few days ago gave fans a nostalgic look back at the story so far. The clip began with, “It all began with money, then became gold and priceless treasures.” “But the revolution isn’t over yet,” the video suggested.
The announcement came amid the release of Season 2 of Berlin, the prequel focused on Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso. It is set to be released on Friday, May 15.
