What is the story about?
American rock band Foo Fighters is set to make its long-awaited India debut in January 2027. The Grammy-winning band will perform in Bengaluru on January 29, followed by a performance at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course on January 31.
Festival and tour series Bandland announced Foo Fighters' India shows on the back of teasers for their upcoming world tour, following the April release of their 12th album, Your Favourite Toy. The band will be joined by New York rock act The Pretty Reckless and Austin-based act Die Spitz in both cities.
Bengaluru’s lineup also adds rock band Pinkshift and folk-rocker Alain Johannes, while Mumbai’s bill includes Goa-based rock group Still In Therapy and singer-songwriter Mali.
Foo Fighters comprises frontman Dave Grohl, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel, guitarist Chris Shiflett, keyboardist Rami Jaffee and recently-inducted drummer Ilan Rubin.
In a statement to Rolling Stone India, Grohl said, “After 31 years as a band, we can’t wait to FINALLY play for our fans in India!! It’s taken a few years but we promise it’ll be worth the wait. We hope Bengaluru and Mumbai are ready for a couple of very long, very loud nights.”
Speculation about a Foo Fighters show in India has circulated since last year. The dates are now confirmed as part of the band’s Take Cover world tour, which also covers festivals, including Pinkpop in the Netherlands and Rock in Rio in Brazil. Following performances in Australia and New Zealand in January 2027, the band will head to India for their debut performance.

Formed in 1994, Foo Fighters was initially founded as a one-man project by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. He used it to release his solo material and recorded their eponymous debut album mostly alone. Once the songs attracted label interest, he brought in Mendel and other members to form a group.
Over their three-decade career, they have emerged as one of the most enduring forces in modern alternative rock. The band has won 15 Grammy Awards and earned an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
