What is the story about?
Mirzapur, one of India's most beloved OTT franchises, is finally making its big-screen debut with Mirzapur: The Movie. The film, written by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, promises to deliver a larger-than-life cinematic experience from India’s biggest, fan-favourite franchises.
There has been palpable excitement about the return of the popular series to the big screen since Mirzapur: The Moviewas announced. Adding buzz to it, the makers have now announced the release date of the upcoming film.
Produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, Mirzapur: The Movie will release in theatres worldwide on September 4, 2026.
This marks a major shift for the popular OTT series, bringing the gritty world of Mirzapur to cinemas featuring the iconic characters - Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) and Munna Bhaiya (Divyenndu).
"Ab dekhiye bhaukaal bade parde par. Watch #MirzapurTheMovie releasing at your nearest theatres on 4th September," Excel Entertainment wrote in caption.
The film officially wrapped its final shooting schedule on February 1. The makers posted a picture of the clapperboard on X, writing, "It’s a wrap! #MirzapurTheFilm."
In a recent post on Instagram, Ali Fazal offered fans their first look at the making ofMirzapur: The Movie. Sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from the sets, the actor said, "YEH SILSILA lamba hai. It’s just a journey of some Love and some Hate. Mirzapur The Film wraps its final schedule. Nani ki aawaaz mein Badayuni sa’ab ka ek sher haath lag gaya.. yahaan uska hona laazim hai…"
“And I can proudly say that on behalf of all the Mirzapur actors and crew and the whole team - we did what we do best,” he added.
In addition to the lead cast, the film also features Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sonal Chauhan, Pramod Pathak, Rasika Duggal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Sushant Singh, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang and Anangsha Biswas. Following its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
