De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Rakul Preet Singh, wrapped its first week in theatres on Thursday with domestic net collections apparently surpassing ₹50 crore.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film’s day-wise net collection lists show day 7 estimated at around ₹3.44 crore, bringing the cumulative tally to approximately ₹51.19 crore by week’s end. De De Pyaar De 2 has garnered a total of ₹51 crore, with ₹33 crore generated over the weekend.
The movie released on November 14, at about ₹8.75 crore. It increased to ₹12.25 crore and ₹13.75 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, bringing the total for the weekend to roughly ₹34.75 crore. The midweek receipts dropped significantly: ₹4.25 crore on Monday, ₹5.25 crore on Tuesday, ₹3.50 crore on Wednesday, and a projected ₹3.35 crore on Thursday.
In comparison to its 2019 predecessor, De De Pyaar De, which reportedly made around ₹55.75 crore in its opening week and went on to become a hit, the sequel is perceived as underperforming, yet breaking the ₹50-crore threshold is a modest accomplishment for a genre like the age-gap romantic comedy directed by Anshul Sharma.
Weekday figures dropped despite a comparatively robust beginning, indicating poor foot traffic in the non-weekend slots. The sequel loses the novelty punch of the first movie, and word-of-mouth seems to be mediocre. Its subsequent box office run is anticipated to be constrained by the release of other rival films, including Mastiii 4 and 120 Bahadur, on its second Friday.
The movie's performance in week two is currently being actively monitored: The movie's lifetime potential might be restricted to the ₹70–80 crore range rather than the ₹90–100 crore range that was initially expected if the Monday–Thursday hold is weak. Given current trend lines, one trade commentator projects an end-run of about ₹80 crore.
