What is the story about?
The makers of Border 2 released the official trailer of the film on January 15. The war drama, directed by Anurag Singh, is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026. A sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 film Border, the upcoming instalment is inspired by the events of the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in key roles.
The trailer features large-scale war sequences spanning land, air and sea operations. It opens with sweeping visuals of military build-up before moving into intense war sequences across multiple fronts, including soldiers advancing on the ground, fighter jets engaged in aerial combat and naval forces deployed at sea.
Sunny Deol is seen leading from the front, while Varun Dhawan appears in close-combat action sequences. Diljit Dosanjh is shown piloting fighter aircraft during high-stakes air missions, and Ahan Shetty features in command-led naval operations. The trailer launch coincided with Indian Army Day on January 15.
