What is the story about?
Rajinikanth's latest theatrical release, Coolie, is having a strong run at the box office. Released on August 14, it has been performing well despite facing competition with one of Bollywood’s biggest spy thrillers, War 2. The action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, dominated the opening weekend, heading towards ₹200 crore (domestic net collection) within the first four days.
According to rough data from trade tracker Sacnilk, Coolieminted ₹34 crore across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada in the domestic market on its fourth day. Although Coolie saw a drop of over 13% from the Saturday collection, the Sunday collection brought the total to ₹193.25 crore net in India after a successful four-day theatrical run.
The Tamil version of the film earned the most at ₹22.5 crore, followed by the Telugu version at ₹6.5 crore. The Hindi release minted ₹4.65 crore, while the Kannada version earned ₹35 lakh. Coolie had an overall Tamil occupancy of 63.75% on Sunday, August 17.

Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel stated that Coolie has now become the fastest Tamil film to hit the ₹300 crore mark in overseas earnings and worldwide collection.

Rajinikanth, the film also stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj. Aamir Khan appears in a cameo in the role of Dahaa in the film.
