Larsen and Toubro Ltd. on Monday, September 15, said its transport infrastructure business vertical has won a "large" order from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd.
As per L&T, orders in the ₹2,500 crore to ₹5,000 crore range are classified as "large".
The contract is to construct 156 route km (RKM) of high-speed ballastless track (package T1) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.
The scope of work includes design, supply, construction, testing and commissioning of track-works, on the design-build lump sum price basis, between BKC in Mumbai and Zaroli village in Gujarat, L&T said. The work also includes over 21km of track works in underground sections and 135km of track on the elevated viaduct sections.
L&T said this is the second track-work package that it has won in MAHSR. In April 2022, the National High Speed Rail Corp awarded the package T3 (116km) from south of Vadodara city to Sabarmati depot to L&T and the project is progressing rapidly, it said. With the latest order L&T is now responsible for more than 50% of the track-works in MAHSR.
L&T said the Japanese Shinkansen J Slab Track Technology is being adopted for the track works, enabling up to 320 km/hour speed, better life quality, increased service and maintainability.
L&T shares were up 0.6% at ₹3,602 apiece around 10.40 am on Monday. The stock has gained 13.5% in the last six months.
