Meta has introduced a new system designed to gather data directly from employees' computers to refine its artificial intelligence models. This program,
known internally as the Model Capability Initiative (MCI), will operate on work-related applications and websites within the United States. The software is designed to record specific user actions, such as the precise path of a mouse cursor, every click made, and every character typed. In addition to these direct inputs, the system will also capture periodic snapshots of the screen to provide essential context for the data being collected. The primary objective is to improve AI performance in areas where current models falter, like navigating complex interfaces, selecting options from drop-down menus, or efficiently using keyboard shortcuts, making AI tools more intuitive and effective in daily tasks.
Rebranding AI Efforts
The company's broader strategy for integrating AI into the workplace has undergone a rebranding. The initiative formerly known as 'AI for Work' is now referred to as the Agent Transformation Accelerator (ATA).
