Locating the Blooms
A new digital tool named Bengaluru Bloom is now available to assist residents and visitors in locating the city's vibrant Tabebuia pink flowers. This interactive
map showcases over 20,000 mapped trees, utilizing official data to pinpoint their locations. The platform not only identifies where these beautiful trees are but also encourages users to share their own bloom sightings. This feature transforms the act of finding these ephemeral blooms into an engaging citywide treasure hunt, perfect for planning a scenic photo walk or a delightful cycling route to capture the fleeting beauty before it disappears.
Prime Blooming Destinations
Created by Malavika, the website blrbloom.com serves as the central hub for tracking the Tabebuia blooms across Bengaluru. Several locations have been identified as prime spots for witnessing this floral display. Among the top recommended areas are Lalbagh, particularly around the West Gate, and Cubbon Park, both iconic green spaces within the city. Other notable areas include the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus in Malleswaram, the bustling Jayanagar 4th Block, and the popular 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar. Bengaluru is home to two primary species of Tabebuia trees that produce these stunning flowers: Tabebuia rosea, which yields pink blooms, and Tabebuia impetiginosa, known for its magenta hues. With such a variety of colors scattered throughout the city, there's ample opportunity to chase these blossoms during their short but spectacular season, which typically lasts only a few days.
