The AI has reportedly uncovered a vulnerability in OpenBSD, an operating system renowned for its robust security, which had remained undetected for an astonishing 27 years. Furthermore, it's reported that Anthropic engineers, even those without specialized cybersecurity backgrounds, have tasked Mythos with identifying remote code execution vulnerabilities. The AI has responded by producing complete exploits by the following morning, indicating a powerful and rapid capability to pinpoint and weaponize security flaws that could pose significant risks if exploited maliciously.
Controlled Access Initiatives
Looking ahead, the company intends to make 'Mythos-class models' available once appropriate safety protocols and robust safeguards are firmly established. Currently, access to Mythos is strictly limited to a select group of 11 organizations. This curated list includes major technology players like Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and NVIDIA, alongside financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase. This restricted access is part of a broader initiative known as 'Project Glasswing,' a cybersecurity collaboration where Anthropic is providing substantial usage credits, up to $100 million, for these select partners to explore and assess the capabilities of Mythos in a controlled environment.
