First jobs are often where employees learn a lot; however, when this fresher in Kochi, Kerala, joined their first job– nightmares and “exploitation” were all that they ended up receiving! A Reddit post was shared on social media, where the said employee explained their company’s ‘exploitative’ work schedule. Allegedly, the company had asked its employees to work for “13 hours” in a day, with just “2 week-offs per month”. In further elaboration, the fresher claimed that they work from the office from “9 AM to 5 PM” and then work from home from “5 PM to 10 PM”.The Redditor further claimed that the company allegedly also expects its employees to “work on Saturdays and Sundays”.“I wanted to gain some perspective on whether the expectations of my
current job are reasonable or if I'm being taken advantage of.My official working hours are:- 9 AM to 5 PM: Work from the office- 5 PM to 10 PM: Work from homeSo, effectively, I'm working 13 hours a day.Additionally, we are expected to work on Saturdays and Sundays as well (WFH),” the post read.Continuing the rant, the exhausted fresher stated that despite the office being closed on weekends, employees are expected to work from home on a “mandatory” basis. “The office is closed on weekends, but work is still mandatory. We only receive 2 days of leave per month. There's no proper weekly off, and it feels like I'm constantly working with barely any time to rest or recover,” the post further read.
