It is the assembly election season in Kerala, with voting taking place in the state today, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4, 2026. Amid this, several videos are going viral. One such video that has stood out shows a tourist unknowingly travelling with Rs 60,000 in cash. When the Kerala Police stopped them, what happened next went viral, garnering over 13 million views on social media.The video was shared by the tourist on their Instagram account, identified as (@rebel.on.42). In the clip, they can be seen riding a bike and being stopped by Kerala Police at a checkpoint. The police asked where they were from, to which they replied that they were from Bengaluru. During further inspection of their belongings, it was found that they were carrying
Rs 60,000 in cash. The police informed them that, due to the election period, carrying more than Rs 50,000 in cash is not allowed and that the amount could be seized.However, the tourist said they were unaware of the rule and requested the officers not to seize the cash. After repeated requests, the police officers on the spot contacted their senior officials and eventually allowed them to keep the money. They also advised them against travelling with such a large amount of cash during the election period.
