Not just any peak, but the world’s highest mountain- Mount Everest- that was ‘unsummitable’ just a few decades ago, has now become a site which often ends up witnessing heavy crowds and traffic! It was in 1953 when Nepali-Indian Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary became the first humans to climb the Everet; however cut to 2026, videos of the mountain getting choked by crowds of mountaineers and trekkers is all that is coming forward on social media.Just recently, mountaineer Xavier Ladouceur shared a video online, showing a crowded Everest. As per the post, the video was recorded at the Hillary Step on May 22. For those not aware, Hillary Step is a near-vertical 12-meter (40-foot) rock on the Southeast Ridge of Mount Everest. It is at an altitude
of 8,790 meters (28,839 feet), and is part of the “Death Zone”, which is located just 60 meters below the summit.Throughout the post, the mountaineer also called out the authorities and urged the Nepal government to do something about the “traffic on Everest”. He further called it “dangerous”.
