‘You Cannot Do Things As You Like’: Manager Lectures Employee For Logging Off ‘4 Minutes Early’

‘Productivity should matter more than the hours given’– is not a new, but surely a rare belief, among corporate employees around the world. Or so can be said based on the high number of instances, where managers have often created ‘drama’ over employees NOT sitting at their desk for 9 to 10 hours straight. Adding another such incident to the list, an employee shared what happened with her on Reddit. As per the post, she ended up getting lectured over logging out ‘4 minutes’ earlier than her original working hours. The ‘annoying’ interaction happened on WhatsApp, the screenshots of which were also shared on the Reddit post. As per the text messages, the employee was supposed to log off at 6:30 PM.As the back and forth between the duo continued,

the employee also raised the point of her early login, only for the manager to dismiss the ‘excuse’. The Redditor was allegedly working at a US-based company, but was recently shifted under an ‘Indian HR’, to whom she was also supposed to report about her attendance. The employee further ranted how- despite a functioning app for attendance- the new HR started asking employees to mark their ‘logins’ and ‘log-offs’ on WhatsApp as well.The post went viral in an instant, leaving many reacting. Most found the manager’s behaviour ‘relatable’, while some sympathised with the employee and suggested she not resign before getting another job opportunity.Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.Check out the viral post: “I wanna resign so BAD. But then this happens. I'm so pissed that I wanna resign but I don't have any fallback options at the moment. Is this normal ??” the post read. The post was shared on Reddit, by the handle ‘Independent_Sea7365’. The post was shared today and pulled more than 2.2K views from netizens.
