A social media video shared by a US-based content creator has sparked a heated online discussion after it highlighted littering around Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar. The clip, posted on Instagram by a vlogger known as @CookSux, shows him standing near the historic monument alongside a local resident who encourages him to observe the surroundings more closely. “Now take a proper look. Proper look of Charminar,” the man says in the video. The vlogger reacts with a surprised “Whoa!”The local then prompts him further, asking him to adjust his camera angle. Responding playfully, the creator says, “I zoom so you don’t see the garbage. Ah, now it’s fine,” as he shifts focus toward the monument, momentarily cropping out visible trash in the area. The caption
on the post read “How to fix the view instantly,” accompanied by the text overlay “One zoom can change everything.” While intended in a humorous tone, the video soon drew mixed reactions across social media platforms.
A section of users saw it as a reflection on civic responsibility and urban cleanliness, while others defended the area, suggesting timing and maintenance cycles matter. One user commented, “Just come after 6 AM, you’ll see a completely different side of it—clean and beautiful, no zoom needed.”Another wrote, “People are more busy blaming regions and communities in the comments than accepting that most public places face similar issues. It’s about accountability.”Criticism also came in strongly from some viewers, with one remarking, “We keep turning heritage sites into garbage dumps and then act surprised when it’s pointed out. Authorities will only act when it becomes unavoidable.”Another comment summed up the frustration bluntly: “Garbage is the reality of actual Hyderabad.''
