In yet another ‘embarrassing’ incident that was quick to highlight the decreasing fear of law and order in the country, a video showed a family forcefully occupying a passenger’s reserved train seat. The clip showed the frustrated passenger confronting the family of four- a couple with two young kids. Based on what was heard in the video, the family had their own reserved seat, yet they were occupying extra space, leaving the man with nowhere to sit. The man occupying the seat was heard repeatedly saying that he had his family with him, hinting to the passenger to make adjustments. The video was quick to go viral, leaving many irked and demanding action. Many also highlighted how the family was littering the train floor, while others advised
to involve the TTE in such situations. Netizens also called out the family’s behaviour, by labeling them “entitled”. As the video went viral, Railway Seva also responded: “We will require your journey details (PNR / UTS no) & mobile no. You may also raise your concern directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal,” the response read.Times Now could not confirm the details of the post.Check out the viral post: “A passenger refused to vacate someone else's reserved seat. His argument? ‘I'm travelling with family.’ The actual seat holder disagreed. Should families be allowed to adjust seats for convenience? Or should reserved seats be respected no matter what? Because if everyone starts making their own rules, what is the point of reservation? And why do some passengers start giving lectures on ‘adjustment’ when it's not their seat being taken? Rules should apply equally to everyone—young or old.The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘GemsOfRailway’. The post was shared yesterday and pulled more than 390K from people.
