Residents have time and again raised concerns about potholes and garbage issues in Bengaluru. Several foreign tourists have also highlighted the problem of garbage piling up on the city’s footpaths in their videos. These issues often spark widespread debate online. However, a US man who recently secured his five-year Indian visa shared a video showing him joining the pourakarmikas (sanitation workers) to help clean the streets of Bengaluru.Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the US national identified as Tony Klor posted a video in which he can be seen cleaning Bengaluru’s footpaths alongside the pourakarmikas. His post was captioned, “Caleb said Bengaluru’s footpaths are grimey… I said I’m joining the heroes of BBMP as the White Pourakarmika.”This
came in response to another foreign vlogger, Caleb Friesen, who had earlier shared a video pointing out the filthy condition of Bengaluru’s footpaths filled with garbage and debris.
Tony’s post has garnered over 2 lakh views so far, with many users appreciating his gesture. In the video, he is seen wearing what appears to be a ''lungi,'' adding a humorous touch as he cheerfully sweeps the streets, interacts with the pourakarmikas, and enjoys the experience. His video has also sparked a debate online — while many praised his initiative, others expressed disappointment over the poor condition of Bengaluru’s footpaths. One user wrote, “Such a shame that outsiders need to create such awareness!” Another humorously added, “Bro’s dhoti game strong.” A third quipped, “Not all heroes wear capes (Tony should).” Another remarked, “Bro out here turning civic duty into a full superhero arc — respect.” One more wrote, “Tony sweeping Bengaluru streets as a pourakarmika is the most chaotic, yet oddly wholesome, thing I’ve seen all week.''
