Days after a video of 11,000 litres of milk being poured into the Narmada River triggered backlash online, another clip has resurfaced, this time involving the Ganga River. The video, reportedly from February 2026, shows around 165 litres of ghee being emptied into the river, and is once again fuelling debate across social media. The footage, now widely circulating on platforms like X and Instagram, captures a group of men gathered near the riverbank. Several of them are seen carrying large metal cans, believed to contain ghee, which they carefully load onto a boat positioned close to the shore. The coordinated effort suggests that the act involved multiple participants rather than an isolated individual. As the video progresses, the boat moves
further into the river. Standing inside, the group begins pouring the contents of the containers into the water. Thick streams of ghee can be seen spilling out in large quantities, quickly spreading across the river’s surface. The process continues for several minutes, with container after container being emptied. By the end of the clip, the remaining ghee is poured into the Ganga, marking the completion of what appears to be a ritualistic act.
The resurfaced video has drawn sharp reactions online. One user wrote, “They have done ‘Swaha’ of the country.” Another user remarked, “These are not devotees. These are the shameless enemies of Ganges.” A third commented, “All stupid people with no brain. God didn’t ask us to do this kind of ritual.” One more user added, “This is why BJP wins every time.. Without any development work.”Another added, “Ghee will form a layer on top of the water and stop fish from breathing. Please check the religion of these people, where are they suddenly coming from and dumping so much ghee and milk into rivers? This costs a fortune. Where is the money coming from?”
