A video circulating widely on social media has sparked a heated debate online, leaving users sharply divided. The clip shows a group of women claiming they were verbally abused while travelling on a train from Siliguri to Assam after a man and a woman objected to them talking loudly. The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as Jerifa Ahmed. In the clip, a group of women can be seen chatting among themselves when a man interrupts and asks them to lower their voices, saying, “Awaaz kam karo thoda.” The women reportedly stop talking, but they claim the man’s tone soon turns rude regardless. One of the women is then heard telling him that he could have been more polite.During the exchange, the voice of another woman can also be heard echoing
the same complaint about the group speaking loudly. This soon leads to a confrontation between the women and the man, along with the other woman involved. The caption accompanying the video provides further context. It reads, “We were five girls returning from our trip from Siliguri to Assam. Around 8 PM, we were simply talking—well within the permitted train hours before 10 PM. Without any warning, a man and a woman began abusing us verbally. Even when we responded politely, the behaviour escalated into threats. After that, the man continued checking up on us repeatedly, making us uncomfortable. Sharing this for awareness and accountability.”
