Matchmaking is surely not easy– or so can be said based on this bizarre case, which a woman shared on social media, which was quick to leave the internet speechless and even fuming. Taking to the internet, the matchmaker- Oendrila Kapoor- recalled about a customer whom she never took on board, solely due to his bizarre “bride demands”, “orthodox, traditional, patriarchal mindset and absolutely unrealistic criteria.” As per the video, a “37-year-old divorced IITian” had approached her, asking her to find a bride who is “below 30 years of age, is Brahmin, unmarried, and has zero body count or past.”The man further claimed that he had read “somewhere in a research”, that “the more number of partners a woman has had, is directly proportional to her chances
of being unfaithful in the future,” which is why he wanted a “virgin” bride. The matchmaker immediately called him out for his demands and asked him why he thinks that such a woman would marry a “divorced man” like him, to which he responded that it was because he was getting offers from online matchmaking platforms, but still wanted someone to “vet and verify” the offers, as such sites are “full of scams”. “I don’t trust these platforms as there are scams and frauds happening on these sites, so I need somebody to vet and verify these profiles for me,” the man had said.Allegedly, Kapoor refused to take him on board after schooling him on his entitlement. “You are the one who’s going to scam these women with your orthodox, traditional and patriarchal mindset and your absolutely unrealistic criteria,” she had reportedly said to the man.Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.“He’s 37. Divorced. Brahmin. Director of a successful company. And he wants a woman with no past. Under 30. Never married. Virgin. Same caste. Said it with a straight face. When I asked him why his past doesn’t count the same way, he said– Because I’m a man. He even mentioned research about women and loyalty. Couldn’t name it. But was very sure it existed. So I asked him something simple. The woman you’re describing do you think her family is going to be okay with a 37-year-old divorced man?” the post read. “He hadn’t thought about that. And that’s the part most people miss. It’s not just about what you want. It’s about whether what you want would ever want you back. Because this isn’t a preference. It’s a double standard. He wasn’t looking for compatibility. He was looking for a guarantee. A guarantee that she had no past. No history. Nothing before him. But that’s not how real relationships work. A woman’s past doesn’t decide her loyalty. Her character does. Her values do. How she shows up, every single day, does. Preferences are valid. Double standards aren’t,” the post continued.Check out the viral post:The post was shared on Instagram by the handle ‘Oendrila Kapoor’.
