For years, Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha has been treated almost like a wake-up call for restless young professionals - a film that makes viewers question routine jobs, burnout and whether they are truly living the life they want. Recently, one such story surfaced online after an X user shared how the movie inspired a woman to walk away from a stable corporate career and chase art full-time, only for reality to eventually pull her back. The story was posted by an X user named Harsh, who said he met the woman during a job interview after she had taken a two-year career break. According to him, she had secured a campus placement after college and spent six years working in the corporate world before deciding she wanted something entirely different from life.Harsh
wrote that the woman watched Tamasha, a film known for exploring themes of self-discovery and breaking away from societal expectations, and realised she wanted to dedicate herself to painting.“She said she got campus placed, worked in corporate for 6 years, then watched Tamasha and realised she wanted to be an artist and pursue painting full time,” he wrote.Motivated by that decision, she reportedly resigned from her job and enrolled in a diploma course in arts. After completing the programme, she spent the next few years trying to establish herself through exhibitions and by selling her artwork.“She loved doing it,” Harsh noted. But eventually, financial struggles began to outweigh passion and creative freedom.“The money ran out and reality caught up. Now she’s trying to return to corporate life for stability,” he wrote.
