US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that the US has agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran and also mentioned Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir in his message. Later, Shehbaz Sharif, too, on his X account, mentioned the “peaceful settlement.” As soon as Trump referenced Sharif in the ceasefire message, a flood of similar posts was seen on X, allegedly by Pakistani accounts. There was a surge of X accounts sharing a similar narrative about how they showed their Pakistani passports at different airports for immigration, and how the officers smiled at them and said, “You’re a global peacemaker. We’re proud of you.” For example, one X post read, “Just landed at an airport in Mexico. Handed over my Pakistani passport for immigration and the officer smiled warmly,
looked at me and said, ‘You’re a global peacemaker. We’re proud of you.’ Made my day.”However, soon after, several such posts flooded the platform with nearly identical messaging, with the only variation being different airport locations. This pattern was noted by an X user, identified as @burhan_uddin_0, who shared the same observation on X. The user captioned, “Suddenly, multiple Pakistani accounts ‘land’ in different countries at the exact same time, all echoing the same ‘peace deal’ narrative. Same script. Same posting time. Just a different location tag. Coordinated copy-paste campaign, exposed.”
