One of the most tried and tested ways to find jobs and approach hiring managers is cold emailing related people and connections. Since it's something that almost everyone does, it’s quite common for candidates to try ways that stand out the most. However, when this candidate did something similar, the result ended up becoming the “best and the worst”-- all at the same time! Taking to social media, a man from Ahmedabad shared a cold email that he received– with a rather bizarre subject: “saw your name in the Epstein Files.” Yes, believe it or not, the candidate did go ahead and use the recently revealed tragedy for their own “clever motive”, or was it even “clever”? The internet seemingly disagrees. Most netizens did not like the idea and chastised
the candidate for using a topic as sensitive as “Epstein Files” to gain attention while job referral. For those not aware, Jeffrey Epstein was a criminal who was facing gruesome charges before he died in his prison cell in 2019. The man was charged with human trafficking and more. Despite him ending his life in 2019– 8 years later– his name is still making headlines in 2026. The US Department of Justice published over 3 million additional pages– in response to the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The released pages, which are being called the ‘Epstein Files’, had more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, along with disturbing emails between some of the most prominent names in the world. Coming back to the email, it read: “Hi Vinay, Don't worry about the subject, I'm just kidding. But now since I have your attention and you're reading it, I guess it worked.I'm a CA finalist student and looking for Industrial training internship. It would be really helpful if you can refer me in your organization.” Times Now could not confirm the details of the post. Check out the viral post:“The best (and worst) way of cold emailing for asking for a job referral,” the post read. The video was shared on LinkedIn by the handle ‘Vinay Sharma’. The post was shared 2 days ago and pulled more than 3K views from netizens.
