Getting laid off in the morning– only to get an offer from the same company a few hours later is surely a situation that would leave any employee rejoiced; however, when the same happened with this Mohali man– ‘joy’ was not the first feeling that he experienced. Taking to Reddit, the fresher shared that after working for just 8 months, he, along with his team, got laid off by the company owner on March 31. Allegedly, the company was not getting any project, due to which it could not pay employees anymore. However, after a while, the man was again called in by the manager, with a new job offer in hand.Despite it sounding like a solution, the opportunity was hardly anything good, as it would require the man to take on tasks that were previously
being handled by the entire team– with just Rs 25,000 as the monthly salary. The Redditor claimed that he was earning Rs 23,000 per month before the layoff, while the new role was also “Work From Home”.Hearing the offer, the man was quick to point out the workload, only for the manager to assure him that the salary would eventually increase. Currently, the man has accepted the offer but has not received any official offer letter.Turning to the internet, he then started taking suggestions for his next step. The post went viral in an instant, where most netizens advised him to keep on looking for a new role, and leave the said organisation as soon as possible.Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.Check out the viral post: “Lost job today, now asked to handle everything alone for 25K WFH,” the post read. “31 March. After lunch, Lala ji suddenly called everyone and said he can no longer support a team of 20 due to almost no projects. He told us to consider this our last working day and mentioned he won’t be able to pay full salary because there hasn’t been much work this month. After the meeting, he called me separately and asked if I could continue on WFH at 25K (I was getting 23K before). He said I would have to handle full stack plus mobile projects on my own if any come in,” the post read. “I told him that would be too much of a workload for 25K and I wouldn’t be able to manage it properly. He said to take 25K for now since there are no new projects, and that my salary would increase significantly once a new development project comes in. I accepted for now (new offer letter not provided yet) because the tech market is quite tough for someone with 8 months of experience as a full stack dev. What should my next move be? Location: Mohali,” the post concluded. The post was shared on Reddit by the handle ‘Traditional-Night-25’. The post was shared 2 days ago and pulled many views from people.
