An Uber driver in Mumbai has won the hearts of the internet for his thoughtful gesture towards an Australian woman caught in traffic during the Chhath Puja rush. The wholesome moment came to light after Bree Steele, a podcaster and influencer, shared her experience on Instagram, praising the driver for his kindness and generosity. In a video that has since gone viral, Steele shared that she found herself stuck in traffic for almost two hours — a journey that would normally take just 15 minutes. During the long wait, her Uber driver went out of his way to buy her water, kebabs, and a soft drink, and even declined to accept any payment.“Uber drivers in India, or maybe just Mumbai, are icons! I was stuck in traffic for 2 hours because of Chhath Puja (the
journey usually takes 15 minutes). My Uber driver was so kind!” she said in the video. “He stopped and bought us water, kebabs, and a can of soft drink.”
Recounting her previous experiences in Mumbai, she continued, “I’ve had so many Uber drivers in Mumbai look after me and help me, and it’s so great! I had one driver famously get me through flood waters to the airport on time. One driver stopped to retrieve my shoe, which fell out of the auto. And now this!”The heartwarming clip quickly resonated with viewers online, who flooded the comments with appreciation for the driver’s act of kindness. “Good people always come across the nicest one,” one user wrote. Another added, “Thanks to the Uber driver for keeping Indians’ pride up. And thank you for spreading positivity in India. We say ‘atithi devo bhavah’ — it means ‘our guests are like god to us.’''
