‘D+’ was the ranking– NOT for a term paper by some schoolkid or a university student– but for an official message by the President of the United States, Donald Trump. A few days ago, Trump had a rather elaborate message exchange with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere, regarding Greenland, trade, and the Nobel Peace Prize. The messages were then made public by the Norwegian Government on January 19, as per Reuters. The messages were released under the Freedom of Information Act in Norway. Now, text messages between leaders of two powerful nations over a massive territory being ‘threatened’- Greenland- are bound to draw attention; however, what drew even more attention was Trump’s message full of ‘grammatical mistakes’.Doing what it does
best, the internet did not leave a single stone unturned in dissecting the US President's message. So much so that the text is currently doing rounds on social media, with ‘corrected mistakes’! Yes, believe it or not– people on the internet went ahead and marked Trump’s text message, resulting in it getting a ‘D+’, along with a ‘need improvement’ note.Just like a typically marked answer sheet with a disaster of a performance, Donald’s message was completely red, with corrections and notes on the same. As per Reuters, here’s what the message read, “Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a "right of ownership" anyway? There are no written documents, it's only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT.” The text from Stoere was also on behalf of Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who was referred to as ‘Alex’. For those wondering, here’s what his message read, “Dear Mr President, dear Donald - on the contact across the Atlantic - on Greenland, Gaza, Ukraine - and your tariff announcement yesterday. You know our position on these issues. But we believe we all should work to take this down and de-escalate - so much is happening around us where we need to stand together. We are proposing a call with you later today - with both of us or separately - give us a hint of what you prefer! Best - Alex and Jonas.”ALSO READ: 'You Can't....Keep On Dreaming': NATO Chief On Europe’s Defense Without US Amid Greenland Tensions Coming back to the ‘marked’ text, it went viral.
