Addressing the media after taking charge, General Seth said leading the Indian Army was both a privilege and a profound responsibility."It is a matter of pride and humility for me to assume the office of the 31st Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army today. I accept this responsibility with an unwavering commitment to the ideals of 'Duty, Honour, and Nation First'," he said, according to ANI.Thanking the country's leadership for placing their faith in him, he added, "I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister for placing their trust in me and entrusting me with the honour and responsibility of leading the Indian Army."General Seth also remembered the soldiers who laid down their lives in service of the nation. General Seth officially took over as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff on Tuesday. A graduate of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, he was commissioned into the Armoured Corps in December 1986 and most recently served as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff.Over the course of his career, he has held several key operational and command appointments, including leading two Army commands along the western front, an achievement shared by only a handful of senior officers.Although his appointment marks the culmination of nearly four decades of military service, it was the heartfelt salute exchanged between two serving officers and their retired father that became the defining image of the day, reflecting a remarkable legacy of service and sacrifice.
