As the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest continues in the national capital, a rather disturbing claim began to circulate on social media. A video was shared online, which showed several female cops carrying an alleged unconscious officer to safety at the protest site. As per the video’s caption, not only was the unconscious officer “four months pregnant”, but she also ended up losing her unborn baby due to the clash. The incident immediately took over the internet, with many criticising the “violence” being displayed at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. However, amid the video’s virality, it was the Delhi Police itself that stepped in and debunked the claim.FACT CHECK:Fact-checking the spine-chilling claim on Friday, July 24, the Delhi Police ended up dismissing
it. The police further called it “completely false and misleading.”Issuing an official clarification, the police said the photographs were taken after the officer sustained injuries in a stampede-like situation during the protest. The Delhi police further stated that the woman was neither married nor pregnant. "The individual is neither married nor pregnant and is currently under medical supervision," the police said, rejecting the claims being circulated online, as per PTI.
