They might cost from Rs 10 to even Rs 30 today, but years back, a sizable packet of one of the most loved Indian snacks- Kurkure- used to cost just Rs 2! Does it sound like a joke? Well, it’s not, and
allow us to surprise you further; not only was the packet worth Rs 2, but it also used to have an expiry date of just 3 months– not 6 or 12, but 3. Rest assured, because you are not the only one to feel the shock, the entire internet was left stunned after a man shared the same on social media. The man allegedly found the said packet buried deep underground. Despite being old, the plastic packaging was almost entirely intact, along with information like its price, date of expiry, ingredients and such. Apart from its price and reasonable expiry date, the ingredients also allegedly did not mention the use of “Palm oil”.The post naturally went viral in an instant, leaving netizens recalling the “older times”, when even preserved foods were much “healthier”. “Found an old Kurkure packet underground, probably 15 yrs old,” the post read.Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post. Check out the viral post:“We were digging soil and randomly found this old Kurkure Masala Munch packet. Dirty, torn, but still readable like a tiny time capsule. A few things that hit immediately: ₹2 only. Best before 3 months from manufacture. Not 6, not 12. No palm oil mentioned (maybe it existed, just not called out back then). Back then Kurkure tasted… different. Now it tastes more artificial. The ingredient list at the back is simpler. These days stuff lasts longer, tastes different than it used to, feels more engineered. Longer shelf life probably means more stabilisers, preservatives, palm oil becoming the default. Curious how many of you remember how Kurkure used to taste back then,” the post read. The post was shared on Instagram by the handle ‘puran_polio’. The post was shared yesterday and pulled more than 83K views from netizens.
