Dehradun Woman Alleges Rapido Driver Used Abusive Language, Left Her Stranded At Night; Company Responds

A video posted by a Dehradun-based content creator has sparked widespread discussion online after she alleged that a Rapido driver abruptly ended her ride and left her and a friend stranded on the roadside during heavy rain following a dispute over the route.The incident was shared by Instagram user Janvi Choudhary, who uploaded a video describing what she called one of the worst travel experiences she has ever had.In the now-viral video, Choudhary filmed herself standing by the roadside as heavy rain poured down. She alleged that the Rapido driver ended the trip midway at around 8:30 pm, leaving her and her male friend stranded before reaching their destination.Explaining what happened, she said, "It is raining so heavily, and this man left me in the middle

of the road and drove away. He said he would take another route, the one behind the hills, but that route was not even showing on the Rapido app. It is so frustrating that he left me here at 8:30 at night."According to Choudhary, the disagreement escalated after the driver insisted on taking a different route. She alleged that he used abusive language, refused to continue the ride, and drove away. She added that the incident significantly delayed her journey, and she did not reach home until around 10 pm.Posting the clip on Instagram, Choudhary described the incident as, "Literally the worst experience I've ever had."The video soon attracted widespread attention online, following which Rapido responded in the comments section. The company said, "This is completely unacceptable, and the safety and dignity of our customers are our highest priorities. Janvi, we want to investigate this on priority."

The video also reignited conversations around passenger safety, particularly for women using ride-hailing services.Several social media users described the driver's alleged behaviour as unacceptable and criticised the service. Some shared similar experiences, while others stressed the importance of ensuring women's safety during late-night rides.
