An incident from Pune has sparked a heated debate online after a video showed two foreign nationals stepping in to address traffic violations by local riders. The clip, now widely shared on social media,
appears to capture the duo stopping two-wheeler users who were riding on footpaths and guiding them back onto the main road.As reported by Pune Mirror, the episode took place at Rakshak Chowk in the Pimple Nilakh area of Pune, Maharashtra. The two individuals were seen actively drawing attention to traffic discipline, using hand gestures and physical presence to discourage unsafe riding practices and highlight the importance of road safety.
In the brief video, one of the foreigners can be seen standing in the path of an oncoming two-wheeler, signalling the rider to change direction and follow the correct route. Accompanied by another person, he continues the same action with multiple riders, prompting mixed reactions from passers-by.The video’s circulation across social media platforms has triggered a wave of responses, with many users reflecting on the broader issue of civic sense and traffic awareness. Several commenters suggested that lessons on civic responsibility should be introduced at an early age through school education. One social media user remarked, “People are so shameless that they don't feel anything for this. They bring this attitude to other countries.”Another wrote, “They'll listen to foreigners but not fellow Indians, I've tried explaining multiple times to people, most just argue back.''A third comment read, “No matter how hard he tries to drill a sense of civic responsibility into them, these brats stubbornly ignore it and keep passing by as if nothing matters.''Echoing similar sentiments, a fourth user said, “When a visitor respects our footpaths more than we do, it’s not civic pride — it’s civic failure.''/images/ppid_a911dc6a-image-176612612758376828.webp)
