A shocking video circulating on social media has sparked outrage, showing how some motorists are risking lives while navigating North India’s ongoing winter fog crisis. As thick fog continues to choke
visibility across highways and rural roads, an Instagram clip captures a group of men attempting to drive through near-zero visibility conditions using a bizarre and dangerous workaround. In the video, one man is seen perched on the car’s bonnet, guiding the driver with hand signals because the fog has rendered the headlights almost useless.A passenger inside the vehicle explains that the fog is so dense they cannot identify turns on the road. Since the stretch is off-road and completely obscured, they decided to place a person outside the car to help direct them. “It’s an off-road patch and we are unable to see anything here. We can’t figure out where to turn,” the passenger says in Hindi.
Adding a layer of dark humour to the situation, the group mockingly refers to the man sitting on the bonnet as “ADAS Level 4,” likening him to an advanced driver assistance system. The video has racked up more than 12 million views, drawing heavy criticism online. Many users slammed the act as reckless, pointing out that the man on the bonnet would face severe or fatal injuries in the event of an accident. Others highlighted the extreme cold as an added threat.“Accident se pehle thand se mar jaega,” one user commented. Another suggested a safer alternative, writing, “Always open the camera... It works best in fog and will show u a clearer image on screen.”Some reactions leaned into sarcasm. “Naya feature aya h scorpio m , Human radar,” one user joked, while another remarked, “This is the reason why men no live longer as compared to women,” underscoring the widespread disbelief over the risky stunt.
