The internet was heavily divided over a debate born purely out of a service that no one saw coming: “Carrymen”. Taking to social media, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared a picture, which showed a woman and a man walking allegedly at the Lajpat Nagar market in Delhi. Where the woman was empty-handed, the man was seen holding several shopping bags, along with wearing a uniform that read “Carrymen” at the back. It turned out the man was part of an assistance service, where people can hire “Carrymen” for “Rs 149/hr” to “carry bags, wait in food queues, and walk people to the metro.”As per the post, the ‘Carrymen’ will also assist people in “finding a place to sit” and even “set up a foldable chair”.The post immediately went viral, leaving netizens
sharing their 2 cents on the service. Some called it “not suitable” for India, while others joked about how most women make their partners do the same instead. A few also called it “dystopian” and a “dehumanising” service.Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.Check out the viral post: “In Lajpat, you can now pay ₹149/hr for someone to carry your bags, wait in food queues, walk you to the metro, find you a place to sit, and even set up a foldable chair. interesting biz!” the post read.
