trip to see the Taj Mahal took an unexpected turn for two French tourists after a misunderstanding over a taxi fare allegedly cost them 50 euros instead of Rs 500. While the money was later recovered by the Agra Police, the incident cut their visit short, and they returned to Delhi without seeing the monument.The incident, which has gone viral on social media, involved two women from France who had travelled from Delhi to Agra in a hired taxi after arriving on a delayed international flight.

According to the police, the driver's wait at the airport due to the flight delay resulted in an additional parking or waiting charge of Rs 500, supported by an official receipt. After reaching Agra, he reportedly asked the tourists to reimburse the amount.However, investigators said the women, unable to understand the driver's request because of the language barrier, allegedly handed him a 50-euro note instead of Rs 500. The driver accepted the payment and drove away.The mistake came to light when a local guide informed the tourists that they had paid significantly more than the requested amount. Realising what had happened, the women approached the authorities for help.Personnel from the Taj Security Police and the Tourist Police Station immediately launched a search for the taxi driver. He was traced shortly afterwards, and the 50 euros were recovered and returned to the tourists. Police also took the driver into custody and initiated legal proceedings against him.Although officers reportedly offered to help the visitors continue with their sightseeing, the delay disrupted their schedule. As they needed to return to Delhi in time for their flight, the tourists decided to skip their visit to the Taj Mahal, booked another taxi and left Agra.

Later, the two women recorded a video thanking Agra Police for their prompt response. In the clip, they praised the officers for acting quickly, recovering their money and extending timely assistance during the incident.
