‘Food Safety Is A Joke In India’: Man Compares Quality Of Chocolate Sold In India vs In Australia

Indian cuisine might be one of the most loved out there, but when it comes to “food in India”, the reputation is not exactly the best. Confused? Well, social media has seen far too many instances which spoke volumes about “poor food quality and hygiene" in India. From the country’s street stalls to the manufacturing of its snacks and from restaurants to whatnot– there have been many instances where food quality was found out to be embarrassingly poor. Highlight somewhat the same, a man recently shared a video, comparing the quality of chocolates sold under the same brand in India vs in Australia.From its size to its ingredients and from its price to its quality, the man explained everything side by side, and concluded that the Australian chocolate was much

better in multiple ways. The video soon went viral, while netizens began to chime in. Some blamed the issue on the Government, while others pinned it on citizens for consuming poor quality without raising any concern.Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.Check out the viral post: “On average, Australians consume more chocolates than Indians, yet they are healthier. The reason is stricter rules and regulations for food quality and safety imposed by the Government,” the post read. “To all saying ₹20 vs ₹80, it is actually ₹1/g vs ₹1.4/g. Now think like a producer operating in both Australia and India. In Australia, material, labour, production, transport, distribution , everything is ~3x more expensive. Yet you are selling at ₹1.4/g. So logically, in India (where costs are ~3x lower), the same quality product should be sold around ₹0.46/g (₹1.4 ÷ 3). That means you can sell;20g at ₹1050g at ₹23Now ask yourself: if it is being sold at double this price with lower-quality inputs, where is the higher profit coming from? And even now if you don't get it, then congratulations to the chocolate company, who has selected an appropriate market to make higher profits,” the man further added.
