A late-night confrontation between a food delivery executive and a customer has sparked fresh debate online over how delivery workers are treated. The incident came to light after a Zomato delivery partner posted a video calling out what he described as a complete lack of basic courtesy from a customer. The episode reportedly took place after midnight, when the delivery agent claimed the customer became aggressive over the phone for refusing to come downstairs and collect the order. According to the delivery partner, the customer shouted at him and insisted that the food be delivered upstairs, arguing that it was the agent’s responsibility since he was being paid for the service. The video was uploaded on Instagram by Ankur Thakur, who explained
the situation on camera, saying, “I have a customer’s order here with me. He called me up and started yelling at me to bring his order upstairs, saying I’m getting paid to deliver, so I should listen to him. It’s past 2:30 am now.”Ankur further highlighted the difficult conditions under which delivery workers operate, noting that what they expect in return is basic decency. He said delivery agents only ask for “some patience and kindness in return.” He also revealed that when he refused to comply, the customer threatened to cancel the order. Ankur said he told him to go ahead, adding, “Now the order is cancelled, so I will be eating this food.”He then showed the cancelled order to the camera — a biryani combo with gulab jamun and other side dishes — and remarked, “I will be eating all this, look,” before eating a gulab jamun on camera.
