Delhi: A late-night fuel scare turned into an unexpectedly heartwarming experience for a Delhi man, whose account of kindness from complete strangers has gone viral on Reddit, striking a chord with thousands online. The incident, shared on the social media platform, unfolded around 12.15 am, when the man’s scooty suddenly ran out of fuel, leaving him stranded on a deserted stretch of road in the national capital.According to the Reddit post, the man began pushing his scooty in search of a petrol pump. During this time, he encountered a group of trans persons offering services, which he said he politely declined.Just minutes later, help arrived from an unexpected quarter.
Stranger Stops, Pushes Scooty to Petrol Pump
A man riding a motorcycle stopped beside him, asked what had happened, and without hesitation, offered to push the scooty all the way to the nearest petrol pump. Thanks to the stranger’s help, the man managed to reach the fuel station — only to face another hurdle. At the petrol pump, he discovered that UPI payments were not accepted, and only cash or card transactions were allowed. With no cash or card on him and an empty fuel tank, the man feared being stranded yet again.
That was when another stranger, who had just refuelled his own vehicle, overheard the conversation and stepped in. He offered to pay for the fuel using his card, allowing the stranded man to transfer the amount to him via UPI.With fuel finally in his scooty, the man was able to head home safely after thanking the second good Samaritan.
Post Goes Viral, Internet Reacts
The post quickly gained traction on Reddit, with users calling it a rare but powerful reminder that kindness still exists, even late at night and in unfamiliar situations. One user commented in disbelief, "Wow. Delhi of all places, and that too at night? You got off easy. Next time have a full tank of gas, or don't step out."Responding candidly, the original poster admitted, "I had the same thought. I usually keep a full tank since it lasts almost a week for me. It was probably just muscle memory or plain carelessness, I assumed I had one more day's worth of fuel. Yeah, I also agree it was insanely lucky."While the incident involved nothing more than a stalled scooty and a payment glitch, it resonated widely for its simple message — that compassion from strangers can still surface when least expected, even in a city often associated with late-night caution. The viral post has since been shared widely, with many users calling it a reminder to stay alert — and hopeful — on the road.
