Amid the everyday rush of Kolkata, a heartwarming story has captured the internet’s attention. A 73-year-old man, Subrata Das, has dedicated his life to caring for stray dogs — not for recognition, but
out of pure compassion. Every morning, he sets up with his keyboard and mouth organ, using his music to earn just enough to feed the animals who depend on him.The story was highlighted on Instagram by Aradhana Chatterjee, who said she felt deeply touched by his generosity. She revealed that Subrata has been looking after stray dogs for over 35 years, spending nearly Rs 500 each day from his limited income to ensure they get proper food.
Once an auto-rickshaw driver, Subrata had to give up his job because of his age. But his childhood love for music gave him a new way to continue his mission. Estranged from his family, he now relies on his art to support the dogs he considers his responsibility. Chatterjee described him as a true symbol of kindness and noted that even small contributions from the public could help him continue his work. Social media, she added, can play a big role in amplifying his cause. In her post, Aradhana wrote, "Maybe nothing is impossible when you really want to do it. Subrata Das proves it!" She also mentioned that he performs daily between 8 am and 10:30 am near Lake Mall, Lake Market, and Rashbehari in Kolkata. The post quickly gained traction, drawing admiration from many users online. One commenter said, "Happy to contribute, please let us know how to do so." Another wrote, "What a beautiful man." A third added, "What an angel my god.''/images/ppid_a911dc6a-image-176318552993887705.webp)
