Panic gripped a village in Bihar after a nearly 10-foot king cobra slithered into a house, prompting residents to seek help from a local wildlife rescuer known for handling venomous snakes. What followed was a calm rescue operation that has since drawn attention online.The cobra had entered the home of a resident identified as Munni Lal. As soon as the family spotted the snake inside the house, they rushed outdoors and alerted neighbours. Soon, a crowd gathered outside the residence as the massive reptile remained inside.As per an India Today report, Janaki Devi, widely known as the "Snake Lady" of Valmikinagar, was informed about the incident and quickly reached the spot. the nearly 10-foot-long king cobra without injuring the reptile or putting anyone nearby at risk.After the rescue, the cobra was released into a nearby forest, ensuring the animal was returned safely to its natural habitat.Forest Ranger Satyam Kumar said such encounters tend to increase during the monsoon and changing weather conditions, when snakes often leave their habitats in search of dry and sheltered places.

He added that villages located near the Valmiki Tiger Reserve are especially prone to such incidents and urged residents not to try catching snakes themselves. Instead, they should immediately contact the forest department or trained rescue personnel, as handling venomous reptiles without proper expertise can be life-threatening, the report added. The king cobra is the world's longest venomous snake and possesses a powerful neurotoxic venom that affects the nervous system. In the event of a snakebite, immediate medical treatment is essential.Janaki Devi has earned a reputation across the region for her wildlife rescue efforts. According to forest officials, she has rescued thousands of venomous snakes over the years.She began rescuing snakes at the age of 12 and has been bitten several times while carrying out rescue operations.
