Leave it to a Gen Z employee to not give into demands by managers that hardly make sense– or so is what the internet has started to say, after social media is witnessing repeated instances of young employees standing up for themselves in the face of ‘impractical expectations or demands’. Adding yet another incident to the list, a post was recently shared online, which showed a conversation between a Gen Z employee and their manager. As per the WhatsApp conversation, the manager wanted the employee to attend a 6 AM ‘virtual’ meeting– ‘physically’.The boss was even seen threatening the employee, stating how they may end up facing ‘suspension’, as ‘disciplinary action’. However, the text or the threat hardly budged the employee. Not only did the young employee refuse

to attend the meeting physically, but also commented on the ‘suspension threat’.“Good morning. This is the final reminder. Failure to be physically seated in the office by 6:30 AM for the 7:00 AM virtual meeting is being noted as insubordination. Please be advised that continued non- compliance may result in disciplinary action, including suspension, as per company policy. Confirm immediately when you are seated,” the manager’s text read.“Noted. For clarity, I won't be physically appearing for a virtual meeting. I will be attending virtually, as the meeting format suggests. Threatening suspension over location rather than attendance feels less like policy and more like powerPoint abuse.
