A Bengaluru man has highlighted the dangers of the city’s poorly maintained roads after suffering a serious accident, sharing his story in a video from his hospital bed. The clip, posted by his friend Khyati Shree on Instagram, has gone viral, drawing attention to unmarked speed breakers, potholes, and the lack of accountability in road safety. In her post, Khyati wrote, “My friend’s two-wheeler lost control due to a poorly constructed speed breaker. We immediately flew to Bangalore and found out he will need to go through a surgery. The next time you find your loved one in a hospital due to a road accident, try asking who is actually responsible. Why is a helmet crucial but an unmarked speed breaker acceptable? Why are speeding tickets important
but there are no fines for broken footpaths? Why are roads dug up every year?”
She added, “My friend is now being handed a health bill of Rs 6 lakhs, went through a life-threatening surgery, came out with six metal plates in his body, and will be immobile for six months. The cost of fixing that one speed breaker is surely less than the price my friend has to pay.”In the video, Saurabh Pandey recounted the incident, saying, “Any road in Bengaluru, any one, is full of potholes. I have severe injuries on my leg, hand, and arm. You can see. It is pathetic. Please do something about the city’s roads. It is high time.”Instagram users responded with outrage, sharing frustration over the city’s persistent road safety issues. One commented, “Bangalore roads are horrible. No maintenance, no planning, no accountability. So sorry to see you like this. Get well soon, bro!”
