Gone are the days when a ‘corporate job’ used to be considered a ‘dream job’ in India. Over the last few years, ‘workplace toxicity’ and ‘poor work-life balance’ have seemingly turned into one of the most ‘glorified’ and ‘normalised’ expectations in companies, especially among ‘Indian managers’. Amid the same, yet another incident came forward, which immediately went viral. Taking to Reddit, a Gujarat employee shared about the interaction he had with his employee, while applying for sick leave. As per the post, the employee had texted his boss about taking sick leave, as his “stomach” was not well, resulting in “weakness”. However, the response that came back left him stunned.Allegedly, the boss not only asked him to work during the leave, but
also passed a loose remark on him deliberately taking an “off” during “work pressure”. By the looks of it, the manager completely dismissed the health issue. “Kya yarr kam ke pressure ke time pe chhutti marte ho. Thoda if possible check structure supervisors for dahej. We need that urgently,” the manager’s response read.As per the Reddit post, this is not the only incident, as the boss often treats the employee in the same manner, including asking him to work on weekends. The post went viral in an instant, leaving many reacting.Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.Check out the viral post: “Manager wants me to work while I’m sick,” the title read. “This is just one of the instances where he is asking me to work while I’m under the weather. He calls and me at odd times, makes me work on Saturdays and Sundays, I never had a proper day off since I joined this company. Irony is that we are the HR department. Suggestions on how to deal with this helps,” the post read. The post was shared on Reddit by the handle ‘NeighborhoodPrize769’. It was shared today and pulled many views from people.
