A travel vlogger en route to India’s so-called “Road to Heaven” shared a video that has since gone viral, alleging that a woman littered the scenic stretch by throwing a used diaper from a moving car. The “Road to Heaven” is a popular nickname for a breathtakingly straight highway in the Great Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, connecting Khavda to Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The clip has sparked widespread criticism online. The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as Prateek Chaturvedi. It was captioned, “Kaise sudhrenge aise log, kaise saaf hoga Bharat! I was riding on the road to heaven and it was actually very clean, and most people weren’t littering or spitting gutka anywhere. But then a Kia Seltos passed by, and the lady
threw a diaper on the road from the moving car. Education doesn’t guarantee civic sense.”
In the video, while recording the road, he can be heard saying, “Aap road ko dustbin samajhte ho, aur jab desh ganda hota hai toh government ko blame karte ho. Main iss time Road to Heaven par hoon, aur yeh dekho yahan par kya pada hai. Itni scenic road hai yeh. No-plastic zone hai. Aur yahan se ek Kia Seltos nikli, aur uski khidki se madam diaper phek kar nikal gayi. Matlab mujhe literally samajh nahi aata ki aap yeh kaise kar sakte ho. Aap road ko dustbin samajhte ho, aur jab desh ganda hota hai toh government ko blame karte ho. Sab educated log iss road par ja rahe hain, lekin uske baad bhi log aisi harkatein karte hain.” (“You treat the road like a dustbin, and then when the country becomes dirty, you blame the government. I’m on the Road to Heaven right now, look at what’s lying here. This is such a scenic road. It’s a no-plastic zone. And a Kia Seltos just passed by, and a woman threw a diaper out of the window. I honestly don’t understand how someone can do this. You treat the road like a dustbin and then blame the government when the country gets dirty. All educated people are travelling on this road, yet people still behave like this.”)The video was widely reshared across social media platforms and even began trending on X, drawing massive reactions from users.Reacting to the clip, one user wrote, “Yaar yeh problem kaise theek hogi.” Another commented, “Sad truth of our beautiful country. If only people worked on basic civic sense, we would be even more beautiful than Europe.”
