What began with a remark on the country's youth by the Chief Justice of India has now turned into a ‘march to the Parliament of the country’! No one, including CJI Surya Kant, could have imagined the chain reaction that was about to follow soon after the remark was made back on May 15; however, cut to July 20, the country now has a popular satirical movement that is leading a youth protest in the heart of the nation. after the 45-day Delhi protest that was being held at the Jantar Mantar. The ‘movement’, which first began online, was triggered by the CJI allegedly comparing India’s youth to “cockroaches”, while the Jantar Mantar protest came after the alleged NEET paper leak controversy that unfolded in May. The protest was held to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.Coming back to the internet, the CJP protest and related videos are currently flooding social media. From posts siding with protesters to some opposing them– the internet is seemingly witnessing a mix of opinions.Several videos of protesters being lathi-charged, along with chilling visuals of young protesters either confronting cops or crying amid chaos, also surfaced online, which were quick to leave many irked.

On the other hand, some netizens were quick to criticise protesters for losing it at public places like the Delhi metro, as videos showed crowds jumping over metro gates to join the protest.

Over the last few weeks, several leading faces joined the protest, including politicians like Mahua Moitra, Chandrashekhar Azad, Dimple Yadav, and more, and celebrities like Prakash Raj, Swara Bhasker and such. Amid the same, another prominent name that joined the cause was professor and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, who later went on to hold an indefinite hunger strike. However, amid the strike, the activist was shifted to the Safdarjung Hospital by Delhi cops, where his health is now being monitored amid his continued hunger strike.Earlier today, CJP’s spokesperson Saurav Das also shared a picture on social media of his meeting with JP Nadda at the BJP leader’s residence. Reportedly, the party’s demands have been “conveyed”, including the demand for an “immediate resignation/sacking of Dharmendra Pradhan”.Nadda has reportedly requested some time to talk about CJP's demands to his party leadership.
