‘Glow Khatam Ho Jata Hain’: Video Shows Relatives Pressuring 25-Yr-Old Woman For Marriage

For many, 25 is an age where they might still be completing their studies, or it might be the time when they are still figuring out their life or career path. For most people, it’s also an age when they finally start to open something of their own, and then come the people who haven't even voted, despite 18 being the legal age. All in all, 25 is not exactly an age when a person should face the pressure of “getting married”, citing how they might be “too old” after that. However, in India, that is one of the most common issues and pressures that young people- specifically women- face from their families and relatives. recording her relatives and her mother pressuring her into getting married soon, as she was getting older. From calling “old age” an issue for pregnancy to commenting on how her “glow will go away” soon, the relatives were heard passing all kinds of misogynistic comments. The video soon went viral, pulling many reactions. Most asked the young woman to be strong and not give in to her family's demands, while others chastised her relatives and the Indian society in general, for such "societal rules and expectations” for women.
