‘Traffic made me better’– is something that hardly anyone has said ever. However, the case with this Bengaluru man turned out to be a bit different! Taking to Reddit, the man shared a rather interesting
change in his life that was triggered due to Bengaluru traffic. The man used to commute from Whitefield to Koramangala daily- due to his work. The travel time mostly used to cost him about “90 minutes”. The man was “constantly stressed”, was “eating at his desk”, and used to do “zero exercise”. However, keeping in mind the time that he was wasting due to his commute, he finally decided to “switch”, and what followed was something that changed his life for good.As per the post, he “switched to working from home 3 days per week”, started doing “gym”, and ditched Swiggy, replacing it with “walking to nearby restaurants”. Ultimately, the man ended up losing “8 kgs without trying”.All in all, it was when he decided to stop “fighting the traffic” that everything changed for him.The post went viral in an instant; however, most netizens pointed out that it was not the traffic that did it, but rather the man and his changed lifestyle. Times Now could not confirm details.Although congested and slow traffic is a serious issue in almost all parts of the country, Bengaluru, however, is particularly one of the most problematic ones. In fact, the city has been ranked the “second most congested city globally in 2025”, as per the TomTom Traffic Index, trailing only Mexico City. In 2023, Bengaluru stood in sixth spot, and only moved up to the third spot in 2024. During rush hour, average speeds have decreased to just 13.9 km/h, with a 10 km commute taking over 36 minutes.Check out the viral post:“Unpopular opinion: Bengaluru's traffic actually made me healthier,” the post read. “Hear me out. I used to commute from Whitefield to Koramangala. 90 minutes each way on good days. I was constantly stressed, eating at my desk, zero exercise.Last year I switched to:Work from home 3 daysGym near my house at 6 AM (empty, no waiting)Walking to nearby restaurants instead of SwiggyThe traffic didn't get better. I just stopped fighting it. Now I'm fitter than I was at 25. My resting heart rate dropped from 82 to 64. I've lost 8 kgs without trying. Anyone else accidentally got healthier by giving up on the commute?” the post read. The post was shared on Reddit by the handle ‘Superb-Fan-1074’.
