A bizarre incident from southwestern China has left social media users both shocked and amused after a farmer’s unusual attempt to transport pigs using a drone went terribly wrong. According to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the farmer ended up with a pig suspended mid-air after the drone’s rope got tangled in a high-voltage power line, plunging his village into darkness for nearly 10 hours. The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of January 24 in Tongjiang county, located in Sichuan province. As per SCMP, the farmer—whose identity was not revealed—resorted to using a drone to carry pigs from his remote, mountainous village to a slaughterhouse. He explained that the rugged terrain makes it extremely difficult to transport livestock
using conventional vehicles, prompting him to experiment with aerial transport. However, the plan unraveled almost immediately. While the first pig was being lowered down the mountain, the rope attached to the drone became entangled with a high-voltage electricity line. The pig was left hanging in mid-air, while the drone’s contact with the power line reportedly caused a blackout that affected the entire village for several hours. The farmer later admitted that poor visibility due to darkness contributed to the mishap.A video capturing the dramatic moment soon surfaced online and quickly went viral, triggering a wave of reactions across mainland Chinese social media. The unusual visuals left many users joking about the pig’s unexpected brush with fame. “When they took down the pig, was it ready to be eaten because it was already cooked from the electric shock?” one person joked. Another online observer quipped, “This pig shot to fame before its death. It is the definition of a flying pig,'' as quoted by SCMP.
