For many NEET aspirants, the toughest part of this year's examination may not have been the question paper itself, but finding the strength to sit for it again. A touching video now making rounds on social media captures a small but meaningful gesture that has resonated with many across the country. The viral clip shows parents gathered outside a NEET UG re-examination centre, breaking into applause as students walked out after completing their test. The spontaneous show of support struck a chord online, with many viewers calling it a powerful acknowledgment of the challenges candidates have faced in recent months.Shared on Instagram, the video carried a message encouraging parents to celebrate their children regardless of the outcome. The caption
read: “All the NEET students who appeared for Re-NEET deserved this respect. It was definitely not easy to keep your morale up and reappear for the exam. Welcome your child the same way today when you see them for the first time after the exam.”
The gesture comes after a turbulent period for NEET aspirants, many of whom had to cope with uncertainty, stress and renewed preparation following the decision to conduct a re-examination. For several students, returning to the examination hall meant overcoming disappointment and staying focused despite weeks of controversy surrounding the test. The re-exam was conducted amid unprecedented security measures. More than 22 lakh candidates appeared for NEET UG 2026 at 5,440 centres spread across 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad.Authorities implemented a wide range of safeguards, including biometric verification, AI-assisted surveillance, CCTV monitoring, signal jammers, frisking teams, dog squads and enhanced police deployment. The National Testing Agency (NTA) also carried out mock drills and inspections ahead of the examination to ensure smooth conduct.Against this backdrop, many social media users felt the applause symbolised something larger than academic success. Rather than celebrating scores or ranks, they viewed it as recognition of the perseverance and determination shown by students who chose to return and take the examination once again. The video has since attracted widespread appreciation online, with commenters describing the moment as emotional and well-deserved. Many argued that after an exceptionally demanding year, every candidate who appeared for the re-exam had already achieved something worth applauding.
